There are many different ways to make money in Melvor Idle, below are some methods that provide the highest rates of GP gain.
+
<!--No version number since version is per method

+
-->
On the right from each method, there is information for which version of the game this method was checked. The results may vary in the most recent patch.
+

+
For beginners, the method with the least amount of required skills for its maximum rate is the Fishing method. The Skill requirements listed in each method are the minimum required, and you will often struggle to reach the maximum rates without higher levels in the respective skills for things like Skillcapes, or the ability to make boosts from other Skills.
For the game version 1.0, the methods below are still viable and have roughly the same power. That means that the most profitable method remains on top, but it could yield a different amount of money compared to what is written there.

Beginners are advised to start with the Fishing method because it doesn't require any additional skills to level, gives viable GP yields, and is the only source of Ancient Ring of Mastery and Ancient Ring of Skills that are very helpful in the long run.

Thieving is not better than the Dragon Javelin method by default.<br>
+
Thieving is not better than the Dragon Javelin method by default. Both methods heavily depend on the buffs from items, passives, and skills. The most important boosts for this method are all buffs to Stealth and Thieving Interval Reductions. Once is survivable, the next most important boost is the Leprechaun+Devil synergy to increase the number of Jadestone gathered.

Once this is survivable, the next important one is the Leprechaun+Devil synergy to increase the number of Jadestones gathered.<br>

Also high resource preservation and Item doubling during Fletching is very beneficial. Using Crown of Rhaelyx and its Charge Stone of Rhaelyx is strongly recommended here.

Without most of the buffs, the thieving gains can be as low as 4,000,000 per hour.

Using the obstacles listed above and all available boosts results in a maximum of 59% Agility Interval Reduction and +195% GP. The total duration for this course is 79s, which is reduced by 59% to 32.39s. The total GP is 15187, which is increased by 195% to 44802, for a total of 4979498 per hour. Although Agility cannot achieve the higher GP rates of other methods, its main advantage is being extremely passive. Once set up, it can be left running and make GP with zero effort.
Using the obstacles listed above and all available boosts we get a max of 59% Agility Interval Reduction and +195% GP.

|-

| Amulet of Fishing || Reduces fishing catch time by a flat 15%. This is added to the Rod's bonus, so using Dragon Rod and Amulet provides a 55% reduction.

|-

| Raw Magic Fish || Doubles the number of fish caught.

|-

| 50% Fishing Mastery Pool Checkpoint || Provides a 5% chance to catch double fish.

|-

| 95% Fishing Mastery Pool Checkpoint || Provides a 25% chance to receive an additional random special item whenever special items are received.

|-

| Fishermans Potion IV || Increases the chance of doubling the number of fish caught by 12%. (requires Herblore)

|}

Note that the Fishing Skillcape and Raw Magic Fish will stack, causing at least four fish to be caught each time. The Signet Ring, pet bonus and Fishermans Potion and the 50% Mastery Pool Checkpoint will provide a 32% chance of catching eight fish.

Method
Equip Fishing gear and fish for Magic Fish. Each piece of equipment will give a substantial boost to profit per hour. Fishing is the most profitable single-skill money making method, though it gets outclassed by the multiplicative benefits of the combinations above. This method does not include extra gold gained from special chances which would boost profit per hour marginally. Maximum gp/hr rates assume all improvements to GP rate are obtained and in use.

Alternative Fish
Players who do not yet have level 80 fishing may also choose to consider the following options: (Note that the numbers below include the boost from the Fishing Skillcape, and as such the actual profit per hour will be substantially lower for players who do not have it)

# Mine Rune Essence while Mining Skillcape and Mining Gloves are equipped. No need for the potion because Rune Essence respawns fast.

# Cut Redwood Logs. You can enable Bird Nest Potion IV to sell the Bird Nest afterwards.

# Runecraft Fire Rune, Nature Rune, and Spirit Rune in a 7:2:3 ratio.

# Smelt Dragonite Bar using while Magic Skillcape and Mystic Earth Staff are equipped (avoids the need for any Earth Rune).

# Smith Dragon Javelin Heads. For a better GP rate, equip Crown of Rhaelyx and use Charge Stone of Rhaelyx.

# Fletch Dragon Javelin while the Fletching Skillcape is equipped and Skilled Fletching Potion IV is active. For each hour of Fletching you'll need to spend (on average):
 +
* 00:01s mining Rune Essence
 +
* 00:11.5s mining Dragonite Ore
 +
* 00:23s mining Runite Ore

 +
* 09:38s Smithing Dragon Javelin Heads
 +
 +
and it'll generate 50,297 Dragon Javelins, selling for 32,693,142 GP and leave as byproducts:
 +
* 8.09 Mastery Token (Fletching)
 +
* 2.60 Mastery Token (Smithing)

* 0.08 Mining Gloves
 +
* 0.39 Perfect Swing Potion IV
 +

 +
 +
It is recommended to first combine Circlet of Rhaelyx and Jewel of Rhaelyx into Crown of Rhaelyx, then convert the crowns into GP by using while utilizing GP boosts. This will add (per hour of fletching) 0.02 seconds to sell crowns and 0.04 seconds to sell the leftover Jewel of Rhaelyx. Combined with the sale of other leftover elements, this will result in a maximum possible profit of approximately 18265154 per hour, all things considered.

Combat can yield some of the highest GP rates in the game. Magic is the most profitable, but it can differ based on the gear and skills in your possession. Assuming Magic and Cloudburst Staff, Magic is almost always superior to Melee and Ranged.

Calculating the specific GP/hr depends heavily on your stats, gear, and buffs. The Combat Simulator can help you to calculate the gains for your build. The exact rates are difficult to determine, but the best targets, in rough descending order by profit and tier are:

Combat can yield some of the highest GP rates in the game. Magic is the most profitable, but it can differ based on the gear and skills in your possession. In general, you need a best-in-slot setup of Melee or Ranged and have 99 in relevant combat skills to be on par with level 85 Magic in God Armor.

One of the most profitable dungeons is the Infernal Stronghold because it drops a lot of pure GP that gets doubled with the Aorpheat's Signet Ring. The pure GP gain with the ring is 250,000 per clear.

Do note that all God Dungeons should net around about 6-10,000k/h minimum while farming them with appropriate gear, so if you're working on or near these dungeons, you could be looking at a nice payday without needing to rely on other methods to earn GP.

For beginners, the method with the least amount of required skills for its maximum rate is the Fishing (skill).svg Fishing method. The Skill requirements listed in each method are the minimum required, and you will often struggle to reach the maximum rates without higher levels in the respective skills for things like Skillcapes, or the ability to make boosts from other Skills.

Thieving Princess and Fletching Jadebolts (24,740k/hr max)

Requirements

 • Mining Level 15
 • Smithing Level 10
 • Thieving Level 99
 • Fletching Level 99

Improves GP Rate

These boosts are in addition to the ones above and are specifically for this method.

Method

 1. Thieving (skill).svg Steal Jadestone (item).png Jadestones from the Princess (thieving).svg Princess
 2. Mining (skill).svg Mine Iron Ore (item).svg Iron Ore
 3. Smithing (skill).svg Smith Iron Bar (item).svg Iron Bars

 6. Sell common drops. Use Item Alchemy III (spell).svg Item Alchemy III along with any available GP boosts on drops worth more than Coins.svg 15,000

Thieving is not better than the Dragon Javelin (item).svg Dragon Javelin method by default. Both methods heavily depend on the buffs from items, passives, and skills. The most important boosts for this method are all buffs to Stealth and Thieving (skill).svg Thieving Interval Reductions. Once Princess (thieving).svg Princess is survivable, the next most important boost is the Leprechaun (item).svg Leprechaun+Devil (item).svg Devil synergy to increase the number of Jadestone (item).png Jadestones gathered.

High resource preservation and item doubling during Fletching (skill).svg Fletching is very beneficial. Using Crown of Rhaelyx (item).png Crown of Rhaelyx and its Charge Stone of Rhaelyx (item).png Charge Stones is strongly recommended here. Without most of the buffs, earnings can be as low as Coins.svg 4,000,000 per hour.

Thieving Knight with Leprechaun + Monkey Synergy (16,476k/hr max)

Changelog.svg This strategy was calculated for v1.0.3 and may have changed in newer updates.

This is in alternative method requiring fewer skills and boosts to get viable results.

Requirements

Improves GP Rate

These boosts are in addition to the ones above and are specifically for this method.

Name Effect
Knight (thieving).svg Mastery.svg Level 99 +100% GP from Knight
+174 Stealth vs Knight

Method

This method relies on the increased sell values of common drops from the Leprechaun (item).svg Leprechaun+Monkey (item).svg Monkey synergy: "Upon receiving a Common Drop from Thieving, automatically sell it for 1500% of its base sale price."

 1. Summoning (skill).svg Craft Leprechaun (item).svg Leprechaun and Monkey (item).svg Monkey Tablets and equip them
 2. Thieving (skill).svg Steal from the Knight (thieving).svg Knight
 3. Sell all unsold drops. Use Item Alchemy III (spell).svg Item Alchemy III along with any available GP boosts on drops worth more than Coins.svg 10,000

Without most of the buffs, earnings can be as low as Coins.svg 8,000,000 per hour.

Check your own Thieving (skill).svg Thieving setup with Thieving GP Calculator by Nomeru#4261.

Using the obstacles listed above and all available boosts results in a maximum of 59% Agility Interval Reduction and +195% GP. The total duration for this course is 79s, which is reduced by 59% to 32.39s. The total GP is Coins.svg 15,187, which is increased by 195% to Coins.svg 44,802, for a total of Coins.svg 4,979,498 per hour. Although Agility cannot achieve the higher GP rates of other methods, its main advantage is being extremely passive. Once set up, it can be left running and make GP with zero effort.

Fishing (Max Coins.svg 4,421k/hr)

- Main article: Fishing/Moneymaking

Changelog.svg This strategy was calculated for v1.0.3 and may have changed in newer updates.

Requirements

 • Fishing Level 95

Improves GP Rate

Name Description
Dragon Fishing Rod (upgrade).svg Dragon Fishing Rod -40% Fishing Interval
Amulet of Fishing (item).svg Amulet of Fishing -15% Fishing Interval, additive with Dragon Fishing Rod for a total of -55%

Fishing Hook (item).png Fishing Hook +10% Fishing Doubling
Sailor's Top (item).png Sailor's Top -3% Special drops, resulting in more fish
Pudding Duckie (pet).png Pudding Duckie +5% Fishing Doubling
Raw Magic Fish (item).svg Mastery.svg Level 99 / Raw Whale (item).svg Mastery.svg Level 99 Doubles the number of fish caught
50% Fishing Mastery Pool Checkpoint +5% Fishing Doubling
95% Fishing Mastery Pool Checkpoint +25% chance to receive an additional random special item whenever special items are received.
Fishermans Potion IV (item).svg Fishermans Potion IV +12% Fishing Doubling
Ameria (constellation).svg Ameria Up to +15% Fishing Doubling
Up to -15% Fishing Interval, additive with the above bonuses for a total of -70%
Agility (skill).svg Rock Climb +5% Fishing Doubling
Agility (skill).svg Ice Jump +5% Global Doubling
Agility (skill).svg Pillar of Skilling +3% Global Doubling
Octopus (item).svg Octopus +3% chance to get 1 extra resource in Fishing (cannot be doubled)
Octopus (item).svg Octopus + Pig (item).svg Pig Synergy 75% chance to receive an extra fish as a cooked version while fishing

The Fishing Skillcape (item).svg Fishing Skillcape and Level 99 Mastery.svg Mastery bonuses will stack, causing at least four fish to be caught each time. The rest of the doubling bonuses result in a 55% chance to catch eight fish.

Method

Fish for Raw Whale (item).svg Raw Whales if using the Octopus (item).svg Octopus + Pig (item).svg Pig Summoning synergy, or Raw Magic Fish (item).svg Magic Fish if not. Other fish providing good GP/hour rates are also listed below. Each piece of equipment will give a substantial boost to profit per hour. Fishing (skill).svg Fishing is the most profitable single-skill money making method, though it gets outclassed by the multiplicative benefits of the combinations above. This method does not include extra gold gained from special chances which would boost profit per hour marginally. Maximum GP/hour rates assume all improvements to GP rate are obtained and in use.

Cool Rock (pet).svg Cool Rock +5 Mining Node HP

Method

This method is recommended to use if you play Adventure.png Adventure and there's no better money-making method at hand.

 1. Buy Gem Gloves (item).svg Gem Gloves,
 2. Mine Adamantite Ore (item).svg Adamantite Ore or anything below it until you unlock it,
 3. Sell gems and ores that you got.

The method relies on the Gem Gloves (item).svg Gem Gloves that increase the gems drop chance to 100% when mining anything but the Rune Essence (item).svg Rune Essence. The average value of a Gem is Coins.svg 381.25, while a single charge of the Gem Gloves costs only Coins.svg 250. Thus Coins.svg 131.25 of profit is earned per mining action from gems.

With the Dragon Pickaxe (upgrade).svg Dragon Pickaxe and Adamantite Ore (item).svg Mastery.svg Level 50, you will get around Coins.svg 470,000 per hour.

A fully juiced setup with the Dragonite Ore (item).svg Dragonite Ore will give around Coins.svg 1,350,000 per hour.
Please note that this setup already includes the Master of Nature (upgrade).svg Master of Nature which is unlocked after beating the Earth God Dungeon (dungeon).svg Earth God Dungeon. This upgrade is quite essential to reach GP rates this high. Players at this point have probably already better money making methods at hand. Without the Master of Nature (upgrade).svg Master of Nature upgrade and only Perfect Swing Potion III (item).svg Perfect Swing Potion III the GP rate already drops to Coins.svg 787,000.
The calculation does not include any Astrology (skill).svg Astrology modifiers.

Details
The results were calculated with the Melvor Idle Rate and Resource Calculator created by Kidbiz20#2026.

To check your own setup, do the following:

 1. Copy the spreadsheet to your Google Drive.
 2. On the Equipment tab, specify for Mining that you wear Gem Gloves.
 3. On the Mining tab, set Current Experience to unlock the ores, Ores masteries, and other things that you have.
 4. Specify any additional things in the sheet if you want to, like pets and so on.
 5. You should see your gains in the kGP/h column of the Mining tab.

Method

The following setup will maximize total profits when all things are considered, note that a lot of the optional improvements marginally contribute to the final GP rate.

for every hour of fletching intended:

It is recommended to fletch for many hours at a time as to minimize the cost of switching between agility obstacles

Ratios

For each hour of Fletching you'll need to spend (on average):

and it'll generate 50,297 Dragon Javelins, selling for 32,693,142 GP and leave as byproducts:

and consume:

It is recommended to first combine Circlet of Rhaelyx (item).png Circlet of Rhaelyx and Jewel of Rhaelyx (item).png Jewel of Rhaelyx into Crown of Rhaelyx (item).png Crowns of Rhaelyx, then convert the crowns into GP by using Item Alchemy III (spell).svg Item Alchemy III while utilizing GP boosts. This will add (per hour of fletching) 0.02 seconds to sell crowns and 0.04 seconds to sell the leftover Jewel of Rhaelyx (item).png Jewels of Rhaelyx. Combined with the sale of other leftover elements, this will result in a maximum possible profit of approximately Coins.svg 18,265,154 per hour, all things considered.

Chopping Magic and Mahogany Logs (Max Coins.svg 1,324k/hr)

Requirements

 • Woodcutting Level 75

Method

Simply cut down Magic Logs (item).svg Magic Logs and Mahogany Logs (item).svg Mahogany Logs log and sell the logs and Bird Nest (item).svg Bird Nest for profit.

Expected Resources Per Hour

The maximum rates assume Dragon Axe (upgrade).svg Dragon Axe, Multi-Tree (upgrade).svg Multi-Tree, Aorpheat's Signet Ring (item).svg Aorpheat's Signet Ring, Clue Chasers Insignia (item).svg Clue Chasers Insignia, Beavis (pet).png Beavis, Master of Nature (upgrade).svg Master of Nature, Woodcutting Skillcape (item).svg Woodcutting Skillcape, 95% Woodcutting Mastery Pool Checkpoint and 99 log mastery. Bird Nest (item).svg Bird Nests are only provided once per action.

This yields about 15,750 Normal Logs (item).svg, 8 Bird Nest (item).svg worth Coins.svg 3,375k

Deedree (constellation).svg Deedree can increase the profit even further, but probably not significantly.

Agility (skill).svg Agility Obstacles have not been included in the calculation, as the Spreadsheet does not support them.

Details
The results were calculated with the Melvor Idle Rate and Resource Calculator created by Kidbiz20#2026.

To check your own setup, do the following:

 1. Copy the spreadsheet to your Google Drive.
 2. Specify your Equipment on the Equipment tab.
 3. On the Woodcutting tab, set Current Experience to unlock the Trees, Tree masteries, and other things that you have.
 4. Specify any additional things in the sheet if you want to, like pets and so on.
 5. You should see your gains in the kGP/h column of the Woodcutting tab.

Chopping Logs With Bird Nests Potions (Max ~Coins.svg 5,000k/hr)

Requirements

 • Woodcutting Level 10
 • Herblore Level 1

Please note: Although the requirements seem low, using Bird Nest Potion IV (item).svg Bird Nest Potion IV and minimum action time (Dragon Axe (upgrade).svg Dragon Axe, Woodcutting Skillcape (item).svg Woodcutting Skillcape and Master of Nature (upgrade).svg Master of Nature god upgrade) are advised or else the GP rate drops significantly.

Method

Cut down Normal Logs (item).svg Normal Logs and sell the logs and Bird Nest (item).svg Bird Nests for profit. A portion of the nests can be opened for Potato Seeds (item).svg Potato Seeds to make more potions.

Expected Resources Per Hour

The maximum rates assume Dragon Axe (upgrade).svg Dragon Axe, Multi-Tree (upgrade).svg Multi-Tree, Aorpheat's Signet Ring (item).svg Aorpheat's Signet Ring, Clue Chasers Insignia (item).svg Clue Chasers Insignia, Beavis (pet).png Beavis, Master of Nature (upgrade).svg Master of Nature, Woodcutting Skillcape (item).svg Woodcutting Skillcape, 95% Woodcutting Mastery Pool Checkpoint and Normal Logs (item).svg Mastery.svg Level 99, Bird Nest Potion IV (item).svg Bird Nest Potion IV and Ent (item).svg Ent + Bear (item).svg Bear Synergy active.

This yields about 15,750 Normal Logs (item).svg and 9,080 Bird Nest (item).svg worth Coins.svg 3,375k

Deedree (constellation).svg Deedree can increase the profit even further to approximately Coins.svg 5,000k more when using +15% Bird Nest drop rate Unique Modifiers

Agility (skill).svg Agility Obstacles have not been included in the calculation, as the Spreadsheet does not support them. But at least Obstacle 3: Stepping Stones probably has a serious effect.

Combat (~18,750k/hr)

Changelog.svg This strategy was calculated for v1.0.3 and may have changed in newer updates.

Combat can yield some of the highest GP rates in the game. Magic (skill).svg Magic is the most profitable, but it can differ based on the gear and skills in your possession. Assuming Magic Level 85 and Cloudburst Staff (item).svg Cloudburst Staff, Magic is almost always superior to Melee and Ranged (skill).svg Ranged.

Calculating the specific GP/hr depends heavily on your stats, gear, and buffs. The Combat Simulator can help you to calculate the gains for your build. The exact rates are difficult to determine, but the best targets, in rough descending order by profit and tier are:

The two most important items to make this method good are Chapeau Noir (item).svg Chapeau Noir and Aorpheat's Signet Ring (item).svg Aorpheat's Signet Ring.

To stress again, calculating the specific GP/hr depends heavily on your stats, gear, and buffs. The Combat Simulator can help you to calculate the specific gains for your specific build.

The most profitable target is the Infernal Stronghold (dungeon).svg Infernal Stronghold because it drops a lot of raw GP that gets doubled with the Aorpheat's Signet Ring (item).svg Aorpheat's Signet Ring. The raw GP gained with the ring is 250,000 per clear.

It also drops the Infernal Cape (item).svg Infernal Cape and the Infernal Core (item).png Infernal Core that will net you 402,400 additional GP per clear if sold with Item Alchemy III.

For one clear Infernal Stronghold (dungeon).svg Infernal Stronghold will yield a total of 250,000 + 402,400 = 652,400 GP per clear.

Do note that all God Dungeons should net around about 6-10,000k/h minimum while farming them with appropriate gear, so if you're working on or near these dungeons, you could be looking at a nice payday without needing to rely on other methods to earn GP.

Some of the setups are listed below, but it is (yes, again) advised that you use the Combat Simulator to check your build. By default, all of the listed setups are 99 in all skills, have optimized Agility (skill).svg Agility obstacles, and have only 30% accuracy from Astrology (skill).svg Astrology

Each setup will have a second listed amount, this will be the gp/h with standardized rates applied to all consumables (excluding food) in combat sim.
