Money Making

Revision as of 22:10, 30 January 2022 by Auron956 (talk | contribs) (→‎Alternative Fish: Remove redundant note)

There are many different ways to make money in Melvor Idle, below are some methods that provide the highest rates of GP gain.

On the right from each method, there is information for which version of the game this method was checked. The results may vary in the most recent patch.

For the game version 1.0, the methods below are still viable and have roughly the same power. That means that the most profitable method remains on top, but it could yield a different amount of money compared to what is written there.

Beginners are advised to start with the Fishing method because it doesn't require any additional skills to level, gives viable GP yields, and is the only source of Ancient Ring of Mastery and Ancient Ring of Skills that are very helpful in the long run.

Thieving Princess and Fletching Jadebolts (24,740k/hr max)

Requirements

Improves GP Rate

Additionally to the Boosts listed above, there are even more boosts for this specific method:

Name Effect
Level 99     +100% GP from Princess
+174 Stealth vs Princess
  Fletching Skillcape x2   Jadestone Bolts
Leprechaun+  Devil +50 Flat GP from Thieving
50% Chance for 2x GP
35% Chance for 4x Items
15% Chance for nothing
Crown of Rhaelyx and its   Charge Stones +25% Resource Preservation
  Agility Obstacles providing Resource Preservation

The mining-related boosts for crafting   Headless Bolts will be acquired naturally. The   Perfect Swing Potion IV will not affect the result much.

Method

  1. Thieve from the   Princess. When you get a sizeable amount of   Jadestones, proceed to the next step.
  2. Mine   Iron Ore, Get   Iron Bars through   Alt. Magic or   Smithing, Forge   Headless Bolts with   Smithing,
  3. Fletch   Jadestone Bolts from   Jadestones,
  4. Sell common drops. Use   Item Alchemy III on the drops worth more than 15,000 .
  5. Get 24,740,000  per hour on average.

Thieving is not better than the   Dragon Javelins method by default.
Both methods heavily depend on the buffs from items, passives, and skills.
The most important boosts to get this method even started are all buffs to Stealth and Thieving Interval Reductions.
Once this is survivable, the next important one is the   Leprechaun+  Devil synergy to increase the number of Jadestones gathered.
Also high resource preservation and Item doubling during Fletching is very beneficial. Using   Crown of Rhaelyx and its   Charge Stones is strongly recommended here. Without most of the buffs, the thieving gains can be as low as 4,000,000  per hour.

Thieving Knight with Leprechaun + Monkey Synergy (16,476k/hr max)

This strategy was calculated for v1.0.1 and may have changed in newer updates.

This is in alternative method requiring less skills and boosts to get viable results.

Requirements

Improves GP Rate

Additionally to the Boosts listed above, there are even more boosts for this specific method:

Name Effect
Level 99     +100% GP from Knight
+174 Stealth vs Knight

Method

This method relies on the increased sell values of common drops from the   Leprechaun+  Monkey synergy: "Upon receiving a Common Drop from Thieving, automatically sell it for 1500% of its base sale price."

  1. Craft   Leprechaun and   Monkey Tablets and equip them.
  2. Thieve from the   Knight.
  3. Sell all unsold drops. Use   Item Alchemy III on the drops worth more than 10,000 .
  4. Get 16,476,000  per hour on average.

Without most of the buffs, the thieving gains can be as low as 8,000,000  per hour.

NOTE: The Fishing Skillcape and Level 99 Mastery bonuses will stack, causing at least four fish to be caught each time. The Signet Ring, pet bonus and Fishermans Potion and the 50% Mastery Pool Checkpoint will provide a 32% chance of catching eight fish.

Method

Equip Fishing gear and fish for Magic Fish or any of the alternative fish listed below. Each piece of equipment will give a substantial boost to profit per hour. Fishing is the most profitable single-skill money making method, though it gets outclassed by the multiplicative benefits of the combinations above. This method does not include extra gold gained from special chances which would boost profit per hour marginally. Maximum GP/hr rates assume all improvements to GP rate are obtained and in use.

Alternative Fish

Players who do not yet have level 80 fishing may also choose to consider the following options:

Fish Requirements Expected Output/Hour GP/Fish Maximum GP/Hour

Mining with Gem Gloves (470k/hr usual, 1350k/hr max)

This strategy was calculated for v1.0.1 and may have changed in newer updates.

Requirements

Improves GP Rate

Name Effect
Dragon Pickaxe -50% Mining Time, +7% Chance of obtaining 2 ore
Master of Nature -15% Base Mining Interval (multiplicative with Dragon Pickaxe to a total of -65% Mining Time)
Level 99/    Level 99 +15% Chance of obtaining 2 ore
Aorpheat's Signet Ring +10% chance to gain double resources
Ring of Wealth +7% chance to gain double resources
Mining Skillcape +1 Coal Ore per Action
Terra Up to +15% Chance to Double Items in Mining and +15% Chance to receive gems or +15% chance to do zero damage
Perfect Swing Potion IV +80% Chance to deal no Damage to a Mining Node
Miner's Helmet +3% Chance to deal no Damage to a Mining Node
Merchant's Permit Gem Gloves only cost 450 instead of 500k
25% Mining Mastery Pool Checkpoint Reduced Ore respawn time by 10%
50% Mining Mastery Pool Checkpoint Reduce Mining interval by 0.2s
95% Mining Mastery Pool Checkpoint All Rocks gain +10 Maximum HP
Cool Rock +5 Mining Node HP

Method

This method is recommended to use if you play   Adventure and there's no better money-making method at hand.

  1. Buy   Gem Gloves,
  2. Mine   Adamantite Ore or anything below it until you unlock it,
  3. Sell gems and ores that you got.

The method relies on the   Gem Gloves that increase the gems drop chance to 100% when mining anything but the   Rune Essence. The average value of a Gem is 381.25 , while a single charge of the Gem Gloves costs only 250 . Thus 131.25  of profit is earned per mining action from gems.

With the   Dragon Pickaxe and     Level 50, you will get around 470,000  per hour.

A fully juiced setup with the   Dragonite Ore will give around 1,350,000  per hour.
Please note that this setup already includes the   Master of Nature which is unlocked after beating the   Earth God Dungeon. This upgrade is quite essential to reach GP rates this high. Players at this point have probably already better money making methods at hand. Without the   Master of Nature upgrade and only   Perfect Swing Potion III the GP rate already drops to 787,000 .
The calculation does not include any   Astrology modifiers.

Details
The results were calculated with the Melvor Idle Rate and Resource Calculator created by Kidbiz20#2026.

To check your own setup, do the following:

  1. Copy the spreadsheet to your Google Drive.
  2. On the Equipment tab, specify for Mining that you wear Gem Gloves.
  3. On the Mining tab, set Current Experience to unlock the ores, Ores masteries, and other things that you have.
  4. Specify any additional things in the sheet if you want to, like pets and so on.
  5. You should see your gains in the kGP/h column of the Mining tab.

Gronk +2% Chance to Double Items in Herblore
Level 99 +15% Chance to Double Items in Herblore and +15% Chance to preserve potion Charges

Method

The following setup will maximize total profits when all things are considered, note that a lot of the optional improvements marginally contribute to the final GP rate.

for every hour of fletching intended:

It is recommended to fletch for many hours at a time as to minimize the cost of switching between agility obstacles

Ratios

For each hour of Fletching you'll need to spend (on average):

and it'll generate 50,297 Dragon Javelins, selling for 32,693,142 GP and leave as byproducts:

and consume:

It is recommended to combine   Circlet of Rhaelyx and   Jewel of Rhaelyx into   Crowns of Rhaelyx and selling them using Item Alchemy III and GP boosting items, this will add (per hour of fletching) 0.02 seconds to sell crowns and 0.04 seconds to sell the leftover   Jewels of Rhaelyx, with the profit from that and selling the other leftover elements normally you'll end up with a maximum possible output of 18,265,154  per hour all things considered.

Woodcutting

This strategy was calculated for v1.0.1 and may have changed in newer updates.

Improves GP Rate

Name Effect
  Dragon Axe -50% cut time
Woodcutting Skillcape -15% Base Woodcutting Interval (multiplicative with the bonuses above a total of -65% cut time)
Master of Nature -15% Base Woodcutting Interval (multiplicative with the bonuses above to a total of -80% cut time)

95% Woodcutting Mastery Pool Checkpoint When you receive a Birds Nest, always receive a base minimum of 2.
Deedree Up to +15% Chance to Double Items in Woodcutting and up to +15% Bird Nest drop rate
Ent +10% Chance to gain +1 additional resource in Woodcutting. Cannot be doubled

Chopping Magic and Mahogany Logs (Max 1,324 k/hr)

Requirements

  •   Level 75

Method

Simply cut down   Magic Logs and   Mahogany Logs log and sell the logs and   Bird Nest for profit.

Expected Resources Per Hour

The maximum rates assume   Dragon Axe,   Multi-Tree,   Aorpheat's Signet Ring,   Clue Chasers Insignia,   Beavis,   Master of Nature,   Woodcutting Skillcape, 95% Woodcutting Mastery Pool Checkpoint and 99 log mastery.   Bird Nests are only provided once per action.

This yields about 15,750  , 8   worth 3,375 k

Deedree can increase the profit even further, but probably not significantly.

Agility Obstacles have not been included in the calculation, as the Spreadsheet does not support them.

Details
The results were calculated with the Melvor Idle Rate and Resource Calculator created by Kidbiz20#2026.

To check your own setup, do the following:

  1. Copy the spreadsheet to your Google Drive.
  2. Specify your Equipment on the Equipment tab.
  3. On the Woodcutting tab, set Current Experience to unlock the Trees, Tree masteries, and other things that you have.
  4. Specify any additional things in the sheet if you want to, like pets and so on.
  5. You should see your gains in the kGP/h column of the Woodcutting tab.

Chopping Logs With Bird Nests Potions (Max ~5,000 k/hr)

Requirements

  •   Level 10
  •   Level 1

Please note: Although the requirements seem low, using   Bird Nest Potion IV and minimum action time (  Dragon Axe,   Woodcutting Skillcape and   Master of Nature god upgrade) are advised or else the GP rate drops significantly.

Method

Cut down   Normal Logs and sell the logs and   Bird Nests for profit. A portion of the nests can be opened for   Potato Seeds to make more potions.

Expected Resources Per Hour

The maximum rates assume   Dragon Axe,   Multi-Tree,   Aorpheat's Signet Ring,   Clue Chasers Insignia,   Beavis,   Master of Nature,   Woodcutting Skillcape, 95% Woodcutting Mastery Pool Checkpoint and     Level 99,   Bird Nest Potion IV and   Ent +   Bear Synergy active.

This yields about 15,750   and 9,080   worth 3,375 k

Deedree can increase the profit even further to approximately 5,000 k more when using +15% Bird Nest drop rate Unique Modifiers

Agility Obstacles have not been included in the calculation, as the Spreadsheet does not support them. But at least Obstacle 3: Stepping Stones probably has a serious effect.

Details

Combat

This strategy was calculated for v0.18 and may have changed in newer updates.

Combat can yield some of the highest GP rates in the game.   Magic is the most profitable, but it can differ based on the gear and skills in your possession. In general, you need a best-in-slot setup of Melee or   Ranged and have 99 in relevant combat skills to be on par with level 85 Magic in God Armor.

The exact rates are difficult to determine, but the best targets are as follows:   Infernal Stronghold,   Master Farmers,   Black Dragons.

The two items that make this method good are   Chapeau Noir and   Aorpheat's Signet Ring.

Calculating the specific GP/hr depends on your stats and gear. The Combat Simulator in Scripting and Extensions can help you to calculate the gains for your build.

One of the most profitable dungeons is the   Infernal Stronghold because it drops a lot of pure GP that gets doubled with the   Aorpheat's Signet Ring. The pure GP gain with the ring is 250,000 per clear.

It also drops the   Infernal Cape and the   Infernal Core that will net you 402,400 additional GP per clear if sold with Item Alchemy III.

For one clear   Infernal Stronghold will yield a total of 250,000 + 402,400 = 652,400 GP per clear.

Some of the setups are listed below, but it is advised to use The Combat Simulator to check your build. By default, all of the listed setups have   Aorpheat's Signet Ring in the ring slot with no passive slot,   Prayer, or   Potions.

Magic (Max ~12652k/hr)

Full   Glacia God Armor,   Elite Amulet of Magic,   Skull Cape,   Air Imbued Wand,   Book of Eli, 85   Magic, using Wind Surge (2,610 runes/hr), 9,5 kills/hr = 6,189,250 gp/hr

Full   Glacial God Gear,   Elite Amulet of Magic,   Skull Cape,   Fire Imbued Wand,   Book of Eli, 85   Magic, using Fire Surge (12,850 runes/hr), 10,5 kills/hr = 6,840,750 gp/hr

Full   Glacia God Armor,   Elite Amulet of Magic,   Skull Cape,   Air Imbued Wand,   Book of Eli, 85   Magic, using Slicing Winds (15,010 runes/hr), 12,93 kills/hr = 8,423,895 gp/hr

Full   Glacia God Armor,   Elite Amulet of Magic,   Skull Cape,   Air Imbued Wand,   Book of Eli, 99   Magic, using Gust (16,900 runes/hr), 15 kills/hr = 9,772,500 gp/hr

Full   Glacia God Armor,   Elite Amulet of Magic,   Skull Cape,   Ocean Song,   Book of Eli,   Warlock Ring (  Signet in Passive slot), 99   Magic, using Water Surge (10,380 runes/hr), 19,42 kills/hr = 12,652,130 gp/hr

The time required to mine and craft runes was not accounted in the calculations above. For instance, the build above uses 10,380 runes. At maxed-out Mining and Runecrafting, it will take around five minutes of mining essence and fifteen minutes of runecrafting. The overall GP rate is then adjusted to 9,5 million gp/hr.

Melee (Max ~8449k/hr)

Full   Terran God Gear,   Amulet of Torture,   Infernal Cape,   Infernal Claw,   Dragonfire Shield, 85   Melee stats,   85 hp, 6,57 kills/hr = 4,280,355 gp/hr

Full   Ragnar God Gear,   Amulet of Torture,   Infernal Cape,   Infernal Claw,   Earth Layered Shield, 85   Melee stats,   90 hp, 7,63 kills/hr = 4,970,945 gp/hr

Full   Ragnar God Gear,   FEZ,   Infernal Cape,   Tidal Edge,   Earth Layered Shield,   Fighter Ring (  Signet in Passive slot), 99   Melee stats,   99 hp, 12,97 kills/hr = 8,449,955 gp/hr
