Money Making

From Melvor Idle

There are many different ways to make money in Melvor Idle, below are some methods that provide the highest rates of GP gain.

On the right from each method, there is information for which version of the game this method was checked. The results may vary in the most recent patch.

For the game version 1.0, the methods below are still viable and have roughly the same power. That means that the most profitable method remains on top, but it could yield a different amount of money compared to what is written there.

Beginners are advised to start with the Fishing method because it doesn't require any additional skills to level, gives viable GP yields, and is the only source of Ancient Ring of Mastery (item).svg Ancient Ring of Mastery and Ancient Ring of Skills (item).svg Ancient Ring of Skills that are very helpful in the long run.

Thieving Princess and Fletching Jadebolts (24,740k/hr max)

Requirements

  • Thieving Level 92
  • Fletching Level 95

Improves GP Rate

Additionally to the Boosts listed above, there are even more boosts for this specific method:

Name Effect
Level 99 Princess (thieving).svg Mastery.svg +100% GP from Princess
+174 Stealth vs Princess
Fletching Skillcape (item).svg Fletching Skillcape x2 Jadestone Bolts (item).svg Jadestone Bolts

Agility (skill).svg Agility Obstacles providing Resource Preservation

The mining-related boosts for crafting Headless Bolts (item).svg Headless Bolts will be acquired naturally. The Perfect Swing Potion IV (item).svg Perfect Swing Potion IV will not affect the result much.

Method

  1. Thieve from the Princess (thieving).svg Princess. When you get a sizeable amount of Jadestone (item).png Jadestones, proceed to the next step.
  2. Mine Iron Ore (item).svg Iron Ore, Get Iron Bar (item).svg Iron Bars through Magic (skill).svg Alt. Magic or Smithing (skill).svg Smithing, Forge Headless Bolts (item).svg Headless Bolts with Smithing (skill).svg Smithing,
  3. Fletch Jadestone Bolts (item).svg Jadestone Bolts from Jadestone (item).png Jadestones,
  4. Sell common drops. Use Item Alchemy III (spell).svg Item Alchemy III on the drops worth more than Coins.svg 15,000.
  5. Get Coins.svg 24,740,000 per hour on average.

Thieving is not better than the Dragon Javelin (item).svg Dragon Javelins method by default.
Both methods heavily depend on the buffs from items, passives, and skills.
The most important boosts to get this method even started are all buffs to Stealth and Thieving Interval Reductions.
Once this is survivable, the next important one is the Leprechaun (item).svg Leprechaun+Devil (item).svg Devil synergy to increase the number of Jadestones gathered.
Also high resource preservation and Item doubling during Fletching is very beneficial. Using Crown of Rhaelyx (item).png Crown of Rhaelyx and its Charge Stone of Rhaelyx (item).png Charge Stones is strongly recommended here. Without most of the buffs, the thieving gains can be as low as Coins.svg 4,000,000 per hour.

Thieving Knight with Leprechaun + Monkey Synergy (16,476k/hr max)

Changelog.svg This strategy was calculated for v1.0.1 and may have changed in newer updates.

This is in alternative method requiring less skills and boosts to get viable results.

Requirements

Improves GP Rate

Additionally to the Boosts listed above, there are even more boosts for this specific method:

Name Effect
Level 99 Knight (thieving).svg Mastery.svg +100% GP from Knight
+174 Stealth vs Knight

Method

This method relies on the increased sell values of common drops from the Leprechaun (item).svg Leprechaun+Monkey (item).svg Monkey synergy: "Upon receiving a Common Drop from Thieving, automatically sell it for 1500% of its base sale price."

  1. Craft Leprechaun (item).svg Leprechaun and Monkey (item).svg Monkey Tablets and equip them.
  2. Thieve from the Knight (thieving).svg Knight.
  3. Sell all unsold drops. Use Item Alchemy III (spell).svg Item Alchemy III on the drops worth more than Coins.svg 10,000.
  4. Get Coins.svg 16,476,000 per hour on average.

Without most of the buffs, the thieving gains can be as low as Coins.svg 8,000,000 per hour.

NOTE: The Fishing Skillcape and Level 99 Mastery bonuses will stack, causing at least four fish to be caught each time. The Signet Ring, pet bonus and Fishermans Potion and the 50% Mastery Pool Checkpoint will provide a 32% chance of catching eight fish.

Method

Equip Fishing gear and fish for Magic Fish. Each piece of equipment will give a substantial boost to profit per hour. Fishing is the most profitable single-skill money making method, though it gets outclassed by the multiplicative benefits of the combinations above. This method does not include extra gold gained from special chances which would boost profit per hour marginally. Maximum gp/hr rates assume all improvements to GP rate are obtained and in use.

Alternative Fish

Players who do not yet have level 80 fishing may also choose to consider the following options: (Note that the numbers below include the boost from the Fishing Skillcape, and as such the actual profit per hour will be substantially lower for players who do not have it)

50% Mining Mastery Pool Checkpoint Reduce Mining interval by 0.2s
95% Mining Mastery Pool Checkpoint All Rocks gain +10 Maximum HP
Cool Rock (pet).svg Cool Rock +5 Mining Node HP

Method

This method is recommended to use if you play Adventure.png Adventure and there's no better money-making method at hand.

  1. Buy Gem Gloves (item).svg Gem Gloves,
  2. Mine Adamantite Ore (item).svg Adamantite Ore or anything below it until you unlock it,
  3. Sell gems and ores that you got.

The method relies on the Gem Gloves (item).svg Gem Gloves that increase the gems drop chance to 100% when mining anything but the Rune Essence (item).svg Rune Essence. The average value of a Gem is Coins.svg 381.25, while a single charge of the Gem Gloves costs only Coins.svg 250. Thus Coins.svg 131.25 of profit is earned per mining action from gems.

With the Dragon Pickaxe (upgrade).svg Dragon Pickaxe and Adamantite Ore (item).svg Mastery.svg Level 50, you will get around Coins.svg 470,000 per hour.

A fully juiced setup with the Dragonite Ore (item).svg Dragonite Ore will give around Coins.svg 1,350,000 per hour.
Please note that this setup already includes the Master of Nature (upgrade).svg Master of Nature which is unlocked after beating the Earth God Dungeon (dungeon).svg Earth God Dungeon. This upgrade is quite essential to reach GP rates this high. Players at this point have probably already better money making methods at hand. Without the Master of Nature (upgrade).svg Master of Nature upgrade and only Perfect Swing Potion III (item).svg Perfect Swing Potion III the GP rate already drops to Coins.svg 787,000.
The calculation does not include any Astrology (skill).svg Astrology modifiers.

Details
The results were calculated with the Melvor Idle Rate and Resource Calculator created by Kidbiz20#2026.

To check your own setup, do the following:

  1. Copy the spreadsheet to your Google Drive.
  2. On the Equipment tab, specify for Mining that you wear Gem Gloves.
  3. On the Mining tab, set Current Experience to unlock the ores, Ores masteries, and other things that you have.
  4. Specify any additional things in the sheet if you want to, like pets and so on.
  5. You should see your gains in the kGP/h column of the Mining tab.

Method

The following setup will maximize total profits when all things are considered, note that a lot of the optional improvements marginally contribute to the final GP rate.

for every hour of fletching intended:

It is recommended to fletch for many hours at a time as to minimize the cost of switching between agility obstacles

Ratios

For each hour of Fletching you'll need to spend (on average):

and it'll generate 50,297 Dragon Javelins, selling for 32,693,142 GP and leave as byproducts:

and consume:

It is recommended to combine Circlet of Rhaelyx (item).png Circlet of Rhaelyx and Jewel of Rhaelyx (item).png Jewel of Rhaelyx into Crown of Rhaelyx (item).png Crowns of Rhaelyx and selling them using Item Alchemy III and GP boosting items, this will add (per hour of fletching) 0.02 seconds to sell crowns and 0.04 seconds to sell the leftover Jewel of Rhaelyx (item).png Jewels of Rhaelyx, with the profit from that and selling the other leftover elements normally you'll end up with a maximum possible output of Coins.svg 18,265,154 per hour all things considered.

Chopping Magic and Mahogany Logs (Max Coins.svg 1,324k/hr)

Requirements

  • Woodcutting Level 75

Method

Simply cut down Magic Logs (item).svg Magic Logs and Mahogany Logs (item).svg Mahogany Logs log and sell the logs and Bird Nest (item).svg Bird Nest for profit.

Expected Resources Per Hour

The maximum rates assume Dragon Axe (upgrade).svg Dragon Axe, Multi-Tree (upgrade).svg Multi-Tree, Aorpheat's Signet Ring (item).svg Aorpheat's Signet Ring, Clue Chasers Insignia (item).svg Clue Chasers Insignia, Beavis (pet).png Beavis, Master of Nature (upgrade).svg Master of Nature, Woodcutting Skillcape (item).svg Woodcutting Skillcape, 95% Woodcutting Mastery Pool Checkpoint and 99 log mastery. Bird Nest (item).svg Bird Nests are only provided once per action.

This yields about 15,750 Normal Logs (item).svg, 8 Bird Nest (item).svg worth Coins.svg 3,375k

Deedree (constellation).svg Deedree can increase the profit even further, but probably not significantly.

Agility (skill).svg Agility Obstacles have not been included in the calculation, as the Spreadsheet does not support them.

This yields about 15,750 Normal Logs (item).svg and 9,080 Bird Nest (item).svg worth Coins.svg 3,375k

Deedree (constellation).svg Deedree can increase the profit even further to approximately Coins.svg 5,000k more when using +15% Bird Nest drop rate Unique Modifiers

Agility (skill).svg Agility Obstacles have not been included in the calculation, as the Spreadsheet does not support them. But at least Obstacle 3: Stepping Stones probably has a serious effect.

The results were calculated with the Melvor Idle Rate and Resource Calculator created by Kidbiz20#2026.

To check your own setup, do the following:

  1. Copy the spreadsheet to your Google Drive.
  2. Specify your Equipment on the Equipment tab.
  3. On the Woodcutting tab, set Current Experience to unlock the Trees, Tree masteries, and other things that you have.
  4. Specify any additional things in the sheet if you want to, like pets and so on.
  5. You should see your gains in the kGP/h column of the Woodcutting tab.

Combat

Changelog.svg This strategy was calculated for v0.18 and may have changed in newer updates.

Combat can yield some of the highest GP rates in the game. Magic (skill).svg Magic is the most profitable, but it can differ based on the gear and skills in your possession. In general, you need a best-in-slot setup of Melee or Ranged (skill).svg Ranged and have 99 in relevant combat skills to be on par with level 85 Magic in God Armor.

The exact rates are difficult to determine, but the best targets are as follows: Infernal Stronghold (dungeon).svg Infernal Stronghold, Master Farmer (monster).svg Master Farmers, Black Dragon (monster).svg Black Dragons.

The two items that make this method good are Chapeau Noir (item).svg Chapeau Noir and Aorpheat's Signet Ring (item).svg Aorpheat's Signet Ring.

Calculating the specific GP/hr depends on your stats and gear. The Combat Simulator in Scripting and Extensions can help you to calculate the gains for your build.

One of the most profitable dungeons is the Infernal Stronghold (dungeon).svg Infernal Stronghold because it drops a lot of pure GP that gets doubled with the Aorpheat's Signet Ring (item).svg Aorpheat's Signet Ring. The pure GP gain with the ring is 250,000 per clear.

It also drops the Infernal Cape (item).svg Infernal Cape and the Infernal Core (item).png Infernal Core that will net you 402,400 additional GP per clear if sold with Item Alchemy III.

For one clear Infernal Stronghold (dungeon).svg Infernal Stronghold will yield a total of 250,000 + 402,400 = 652,400 GP per clear.

Some of the setups are listed below, but it is advised to use The Combat Simulator to check your build. By default, all of the listed setups have Aorpheat's Signet Ring (item).svg Aorpheat's Signet Ring in the ring slot with no passive slot, Prayer (skill).svg Prayer, or Herblore (skill).svg Potions.

The time required to mine and craft runes was not accounted in the calculations above. For instance, the build above uses 10,380 runes. At maxed-out Mining and Runecrafting, it will take around five minutes of mining essence and fifteen minutes of runecrafting. The overall GP rate is then adjusted to 9,5 million gp/hr.
