Thieving
Thieving lets you commit theft. In-game, of course. Each thieving attempt takes three seconds. On a success you are awarded gp up to the Max Coins of the target and have a 75% chance to receive an item from its loot table. On failure you are stunned for 3 seconds and take damage up to the Max Hit of the target; this damage is reduced by damage reduction provided by Equipment. In addition there is a 1 in 120 chance to receive a Bobbys Pocket per successful pickpocket;it can be sold for 4000. There is also a 1 in 10000 chance to receive a Chapeau Noir, which gives a 10% chance to double the quantity of items gained from thieving or combat. Gentle Hands Potions can be used to provide a 5-25% chance to double the quantity of items gained on a successful pickpocket.
Because of the possibility of taking damage, It's best to have some food equipped so you can eat without breaking from thieving.
Success Rate
There is a base success rate of 57.5% when pick-pocketing. This chance is increased by 0.7% for each level in thieving you have above the target's level requirement, and is further increased by mastery. This chance is capped to a maximum of 95%. When you wear Thieving Gloves with charges left the success rate is increased by 10%, and may exceed 95%. Success rates over 100% do not allow for multiple pickpockets per action. Equipping the Thieving Skillcape guarantees a 100% success rate.
Mastery
Increasing your mastery level for a thieving target increases your chance to pickpocket by 0.25%.
