Woodcutting is used to generate logs, which are primarily used in the skills {{Skill|Firemaking}} and {{Skill|Fletching}}. Selling logs is advisable to make it possible to purchase essential upgrades such as [[Shop#Axe|Axes]] or {{UpgradeIcon|Multi-Tree}}, but this might slow down {{Skill|Firemaking}}, so keeping some is recommended. To further this goal, {{ItemIcon|Magic Logs|Magic Trees}} are usually worth cutting until {{ItemIcon|Redwood Logs|Redwood Trees}} are unlocked as they are worth a large amount of GP.


There is no requirement to start [[Woodcutting]]. One should always use the best [[Shop#Axe|Axe]] available for purchase in the [[Shop]].
It is also possible to sell the {{ItemIcon|Bird Nest|Bird Nests}} that are produced, which are worth more unopened on average compared to selling the seeds after opening. However, you should consider opening enough for {{Skill|Farming}}.  


Also available in the Shop is [[Shop#Miscellaneous|Multi-Tree]] which allows two trees to be cut at the same time, increasing the experience and logs gained per hour.
Seeds worth keeping include:
