Old Summoning Amulet and Lesser Summoning Amulet are your two best choices for amulets. Sim against each other. Old Summoning Amulet requires high arch but there's no reason to not get Lesser Summoning Amulet.

Ancient (B) is your best option for helm, body, and legs. For boots upgrade anything that looks good up to (B). Barrier Exalted Shards first drop in Trickery Temple. You can get away with not having (B) gear until then, but if your stats are low farm out lower level gear (B).

For gloves pick your highest accuracy boosting piece, as summoning accuracy is based on your accuracy rating.

Summoner's Blessed Ring is usually the best ring option, sim this against your usual ring choices.

For Gem pick your best % damage summoning gem, these all drop from AoD dungeons except very early gems that you can safely skip.

Ancient Infernal Cape is your best cape slot pick unless you have relevant skill capes. Run Cape of Prat if using ranged and don't need the DR. Ancient Fire Cape or Skull Cape if Infernal is not cleared.

I ran Summoner's Defender until Underwater City, your stats might require a shield though. Dragonfire Shield is your best defensive option, Book of Occults for offense but probably not worth farming out (it might outperform defender? Needs simming). Otherwise use a defender(knight's, crystal, pure crystal) for melee, Scaled Shield is best for Ranged offensive option, Blessed Shield or Magicburn Shield for Magic offense.

For weapons use your best 1h with a shield option above. The accuracy bonus from 2 handers is usually very good for downing barriers if you don't have any of the shield options above. The familiar weapons are usually bad.

For summons use the highest max hit available to you until you can reasonably craft Tortoise. Tortoise/Dragon is very strong. If you don't have access to Dragon, browse the Tortoise synergies for one that works for you.
