The guide is written with the goal of idling the dungeon. If you want to do it manually, the requirements are much more relaxed, although the more DR you have, the easier it is to do anyway.
Why clear Air God Dungeon?
* Perpetual Haste - massively speeds up Crafting and Fletching.
* - ranged best-in-slot. This set is mandatory to idle the Water God Dungeon. You will also need to later upgrade them into the Poison Virulence Gloves.
* Deadeye Amulet - ranged best-in-slot.
* Deadeye Ring - you will need 10 of them to later upgrade into the Poison Virulence Ring.
* Stormsnap - Situationally useful, but almost mandatory for farming the Ocean Song later.

Why clear Volcanic Cave?
According to the simulator:

* If you want the full Armour set, then you need to clear the dungeon 91 times for 75% of that happening or 192 times for 95%.
On each clear, you get the Fire Cape that gives 2% DR.
* If you want the full set and Stormsnap, then it's 277 times for 75% and 576 times for 95%.

Volcanic Cave is the place where you gear up in preparation for the Air God Dungeon. According to the simulation, it takes 820 clears to get the full (G) Ancient Helmet set with 75% probability and 1350 clears to get it with 95% probability.

It is also a place to farm for Fury of the Elemental Zodiacs. Check the FEZ/Guide to see if it's the best option for you.

After you clear the Volcanic Cave 100 times, you will unlock Ancient Magicks - , , and .<br>
are used when the hit chance of everything else is not high. They don't miss if you have more than 20k accuracy;<br>
is used to one-shot;<br>
is used for everything else.

Ancient Magicks are not affected by damage amplification in any way except the Combat Triangle. No curses, no debuffs, no gear buffs. However, it is much stronger than the basic magic at this stage. For instance, when basic magic could clear Volcanic Cave 8 times per hour, Ancient Magicks could do it 22 times.

Gear to idle
Gear to idle
The main heavy-hitter of the Volcanic Cave uses the Melee style. Therefore, clearing it with pre-Volcanic Ranged build is unfeasible due to the Combat Triangle penalties.
Due to the Combat Triangle, it's recommended to beat the Air God Dungeon with Melee because the enemies here are Ranged and Melee.

It is assumed that you have Auto Eat - Tier III.

All calculations are done for the Hardcore and Adventure game modes. For Standard, the restrictions are a bit more relaxed.

Melee
The following build can idle the dungeon with Hitpoints. Check your own setup with the Combat Simulator or Can I Idle to be sure that you won't die.

Volcanic Cave is usually done with Melee because the Dragon Helmet armor set requires only Smithing to produce. It then can be trimmed to provide 30% DR.

Below is the melee build that requires to idle the dungeon on any game mode. However, pay attention that even slightly less DR or HP will mean death for this build because it hangs a hair breadth away from the max hit of . Check with Can I Idle or Combat Simulator to see if you can idle with your build. Also, the Sandstorm Ring is very important for your clear time.

Pre-Volcanic Magic
The other possible option is Magic. Clearing the Volcano with Magic from the start is not recommended because its adjusted clear time is slower than the Sunset Rapier.

To idle the dungeon with the build below, you need and active.

100-Volcanoes Magic
After clearing the Volcanic Cave 100 times, you will unlock Ancient Magicks.

It's theoretically possible to farm the Volcanic Cave with the 20k-accuracy on the following build if you have , Magic, and a prayer active.

To farm the dungeon with 34% DR and without the prayer or potions, you need . Your biggest threat is with the resulting damage of 375 and your minimum HP being 377.

Check if you fulfill the accuracy quota with Combat Simulator. The 20k accuracy is important because after that number cannot miss, becoming a top-DPS spell against the dungeon at this point of progression.
It is heavily suggested to use the Sandstorm Ring because it boosts your clear time by 20%. Other rings don't come even relatively close.

Weapon choice
The information in the table below was produced by using the Combat Simulator and the respective builds above.
{{SpoilerBox|text=
The clears per hour are counted for a Hardcore character with level 70 in everything except Hitpoints and Magic that are adjusted for the magic setups.<br>
In the calculations, the time to prepare prayer points and curse runes is not accounted for because it's not as easy. In addition, the overall picture is obvious even without accounting for them.

The adjusted clear time is calculated with the notation and assumptions from the Dragons Den/Guide, but Whale (Perfect) are used as food instead of Crab.
The simulation was done with the given default build on Hardcore. All combat levels are equal to 85 aside from Hitpoints. No prayers, no potions, no any other buffs.

All intermediate steps are covered in a spreadsheet. (link)

It should be noted that the Melee clear times become tremendously worse without the Sandstorm Ring. Only Rapier and Ancient Claw are better than Magic Wand (Powerful) in this case.

It is suggested to start using the 100-Volcanoes build as soon as you can because the and significantly slow your clear time by high evasion. 20k Slicing Winds don't miss.

Conclusion
Ideally, you want to get from the Infernal Stronghold and farm the Dragon Claw to make the Infernal Claw.<br>
The suggested order of actions is as follows:
Check the to farm it most efficiently. You should be able to idle everything aside from .
# Get Sunset Rapier,
# Get Sandstorm Ring,
# Do 100 Volcanic Cave clears as Melee,
# Do the rest of Volcanic Cave clears with .

Why clear Air God Dungeon?

According to the simulator:

 • If you want the full Armour set, then you need to clear the dungeon 91 times for 75% of that happening or 192 times for 95%.
 • If you want the full set and Stormsnap, then it's 277 times for 75% and 576 times for 95%.

Gear to idle

Due to the Combat Triangle, it's recommended to beat the Air God Dungeon with Melee because the enemies here are Ranged and Melee.

The following build can idle the dungeon with Hitpoints Level 90. Check your own setup with the Combat Simulator or Can I Idle to be sure that you won't die.

Item Slot DR%
(G) Ancient Helmet Head 7%
(G) Ancient Platebody Body 7%
(G) Ancient Platelegs Leggings 7%
(G) Dragon Boots Boots 6%
(U) Ancient D-hide Vambraces Hands 6%
Infernal Cape Cape 4%
Elite Amulet of Defence Neck 2%
Sandstorm Ring Ring 0%
Dragonfire Shield Off-hand 8%
Total 47%

It is heavily suggested to use the Sandstorm Ring because it boosts your clear time by 20%. Other rings don't come even relatively close.

If you have FEZ (3% DR) use it instead of the Elite Amulet of Defence (2% DR). If you don't have any of them, use Gold Sapphire Necklace, but you really want at least Elite Defence to idle this dungeon.

Weapon choice

The simulation was done with the given default build on Hardcore. All combat levels are equal to 85 aside from Hitpoints. No prayers, no potions, no any other buffs.

Weapon Clear time (s) Buff compared to previous Crabs per hour
Dragon Sword 3210 0% 1330
Dragon Claw 2930 9% 1320
Sunset Rapier 2350 20% 1300
Ancient Claw 2190 7% 1300
Infernal Claw 1970 10% 1295

You want to get at least the Ancient Claw because it is a good time to farm it after unlocking Ancient Magicks.

Ideally, you want to get 10 Infernal Cores from the Infernal Stronghold and farm the Dragon Claw to make the Infernal Claw.
Check the Infernal Stronghold/Guide to farm it most efficiently. You should be able to idle everything aside from Malcs's.
