Dungeon Mechanics
Similar to Into the Mist and Impending Darkness Event, this Dungeon consists of 3 boss phases, each tailored to a specific Combat Style. There will be a paused screen as soon as you enter the dungeon, and before each phase of the boss, where the player can read the boss's abilities and damage values. Unlike those dungeons, there are significantly less mechanics that dynamically change the amount of damage the boss can do, outside of the returning Affliction. Due to this it is generally much easier to determine if the player can survive without manual eating; in fact, 2 of the 3 phases are completely idle-able. The third phase has a mechanic that instantly kills  the player (by dealing about a million damage) if they fall below a certain Hitpoints threshold.

Intimidation
In the Throne of the Herald, there are 3 enemies you are required to beat. There is a pause before each enemy where you can prepare for the impending fight. Once the final enemy is defeated, the player is rewarded with Harold.
Just like every other monster in the Throne of the Herald Expansion, Herald has a passive effect that reduces the player's Damage Reduction. When in combat with Herald, the player's base damage reduction is reduced by 44%, before any modifiers from the combat triangle.

Deja-Vu
This ability is found on all three phases of the boss, and is reminiscent of the passive immunities of Bane and Ahrenia. When the boss uses this ability, he becomes immune to all damage from combat styles different than his own for a few turns. This ability is designed to encourage the player to swap equipment sets actively to be able to deal damage, however, the boss generally does too much damage to not take advantage of the Combat Triangle increase to Damage Reduction, and this mechanic can be ignored if you can deal enough damage in between Deja-Vu effects.

Immunities
Each phase of Herald is immune to stuns and freeze effects as has a 50% chance to avoid Burn, Bleed, Slow and Frostburn.

Each boss also heals 4% of its max Hitpoints every 2 turns.

Growing Madness
Every time the boss attacks, it gets faster and can deal more damage, with up to 50% reduced attack interval, and 50% increased Max Hit.

All 3 enemies have a special attack which is used 30% of the time, where they become immune to all combat styles other than their own for 4 of their turns.
Rewards
Harold - This pet has a ludicrous amount of bonuses for every aspect of the game.

Since all 3 enemies also heal 4% of their max health every 2 turns, there is a balance between surviving and dealing enough damage.

Using all of the best pieces of equipment, the player will be able to safely idle The Herald Phase 1 even at max stacks of Reign Over Time.

This fight is different from the others. The Herald has a special unavoidable attack Sealed Fate which instantly kills the player if they are below 90% health when it activates. This means this phase cannot be idled, and the player must pay attention to the fight in order to heal themselves to full Hitpoints when the boss is using the attack and keep themselves alive for all other attacks. Remember that the boss will be attacking very quickly due to Reign over Time.

Through the use of the Voodoo Trinket, the player is now able to use curses without a magic weapon. Using this, it is highly recommended to use the .
The Herald does not apply stacks of Affliction, which does make things easier.

Astrology

As many combat bonuses from Astrology constellations are recommended, but not required. In total, Astrology serves as a massive buff to combat and will make the fight easier. The main bonuses are:

Agility

# Obstacle Reason
1 X
2 X
3 Pipe Climb No particular reason beyond being the only obstacle that grants any combat benefits.
4 Coal Stones No negative modifiers, technically saves some food.
5 Cliff Balance +20 HP.
6 Lake Swim +5% Damage, +1% DR. Rocky Waters can be used instead.
7 Boulder Trap No negative combat modifiers.
8 Spike Jump More damage. Raft Building is not needed as there is already enough HP and DR to idle the first phases.
9 Water Jump More damage. The 20 HP from Ice Jump is not needed.
10 Ocean Rafting Free damage!
P Pillar of Combat Lots of beneficial combat bonuses.
11 Pipe Maze More damage.
12 Boulder Balance Lower attack interval and more damage for the low price of lower accuracy.
13 Rope Trap More damage.
14 Freezing Climb More evasion, accuracy and damage.
15 Waterfall Crossing Is the equivalent of a permanent diamond luck potion, which frees up a potion slot for Damage Reduction Potion IV It is necessary to have this obstacle at 99 mastery to halve the -100hp modifier.
EP Elite Pillar of Conflict Lots of beneficial combat bonuses.

Consumables

  • Food
    • Food choice does not matter for the first 2 enemies, as they can both be safely idled. However, since the final phase has an attack which will one-shot the player if they are below 90% health, a food which can heal to full health in 1 click is highly recommended. Mystic Shark or similar.
