Q: How do I unlock maps and dig sites?

:A: To progress {{Skill:Archaeology}}, you must first start to explore the map in {{Skill:Cartography}}. When you explore this map you will unlock {{Icon|Dig site|Dig sites|nolink=true}}, and when you discover these POIs you will gain one map that unlocks a dig site. Some dig sites and points-of-interest will also need you to be a certain skill-level before they will allow you to excavate. For example, you can easily increase your {{Skill|Archaeology}} XP by excavating the {{Icon|Dig site|Dig sites|nolink=true}} that can be found close to your starting position in {{Skill|Cartography}}. Hopefully this will be enough to to get you started on your journey.

:As you progress, there will be opportunities to gain up to four Extra Archaeology Map Slot (upgrade). Each new slot that you open allows you to add another map, but at a lower tier than the starting map. These extra slots allow you to idle this skill for longer periods which will become necessary as you progress in this skill.
