Astrology

This article is about the Astrology skill. For training the skill, see Astrology/Training.

Astrology is a skill that provides passive buffs to various other skills in the game similar to the Agility skill. Modifiers will be unlocked as you level up your mastery in each constellation, and the buff can be upgraded by spending Stardust or Golden Stardust to level up that buff to a maximum level of 5 for Golden Stardust buffs and 8 for Stardust buffs.

Mechanics

Leveling Astrology involves Studying various Constellations, starting with the Deedree Constellation at level 1. Studying has a base interval of 3 seconds per action. Studying does not cost any resources and provides Astrology experience and Mastery experience for the Constellation after each action.

Each Study action also has a chance to provide Stardust, Golden Stardust, or to () discover a Meteorite.

Acquiring Stardust

Both Stardust and Golden Stardust are exclusively obtained from Astrology. Both are acquired at random while studying constellations, where Stardust and Golden Stardust drops with a 5% and 2% chance per action respectively.

The rate at which stardust may be acquired can be increased by:

• Decreasing the action interval
  • Secret Stardust Potion reduces the action interval by 3/5/10/15% depending on the potion's tier. Note that since the potions themselves use Stardust as an ingredient, maximizing the Herblore preservation and doubling chances before creating any of these potions is highly recommended.
  • Variel reduces the action interval by 5%.
  • Superior Astrology Skillcape reduces the action interval by 10%.
  • Owl + Eagle Synergy reduces the action interval by 10%
    • Owl itself provides 5% interval reduction, so equipping the synergy gives a total of 15% action interval reduction.
• Increasing the drop chance
  • Stardust:
    • The 25% Mastery pool checkpoint provides a +5% bonus to the drop chance
    • Variel provides a +2% bonus
    • Rosaniya provides a +4% bonus
  • Golden Stardust:
    • The 50% Mastery pool checkpoint provides a +3% bonus to the drop chance
    • The 95% Mastery pool checkpoint provides a +2% bonus
    • Astro provides a +1% bonus
    • Variel provides a +2.5% bonus
  • Meteorite Ore:
    • The 95% Mastery pool checkpoint provides a +2% bonus
    • Variel provides a +0.5% bonus
• Increasing the drop quantity
  • Equipping Astrology Skillcape provides a +1 bonus to the quantity of both Stardust and Golden Stardust that is dropped.
  • Equipping Superior Astrology Skillcape provides a +2 bonus to the quantity of both Stardust and Golden Stardust that is dropped.
  • Both types of Stardust are affected by doubling modifiers, such as:
    • Aorpheat's Signet Ring
    • Some Agility courses
    • The Mastery Level 40 star in Rosaniya

Modifiers

Each Constellation starts with 6 predetermined Stars (modifiers) that are unlocked by increasing the Mastery Level of the Constellation. Upgrading Stars that provide standard modifiers costs Stardust, while upgrading Stars that provide unique modifiers costs Golden Stardust. The modifier starts at 0, so you need to use the appropriate type of Stardust to benefit from a Stars modifiers.

The maximum amount of upgrades you can put into a Star modifier is determined by the type of modifier. Normal modifiers can go up to level 8, whereas unique modifiers can only go up to level 5.

Each upgrade gives a linear increase to the bonus.

The first upgrade needs 10 Stardust or 50 Golden Stardust. With each upgrade, the cost of Stardust or Golden Stardust will double, resulting in the last upgrade of a star costing 1,280 Stardust or 800 Golden Stardust.

Each standard modifier requires 2550 Stardust to max out, while each unique modifier requires 1550 Golden Stardust to max out. This results in a total of 84,150 Stardust ( 114,750 Stardust) and 51,150 Golden Stardust ( 69,750 Golden Stardust) needed to max out every modifier in astrology.

Despite the wording Unique Modifier, the modifiers do stack with similar types of modifiers, e.g. Deedree's Mastery Level 20 star (up to +5% Farming Yield) stacks with the +3% Farming Yield from Bob's Gloves
