It is heavily suggested to use the {{ItemIcon|Sandstorm Ring}} because it boosts your clear time by 20%. Other rings don't come even relatively close.
With more HP, you can start trading DR for Chance to Double Items and plain DPS, for example, with the same build, at {{Icon|Hitpoints|qty=1090|type=skill|HP}}, you could equip a {{ItemIcon|Chapeau Noir}} and an {{ItemIcon|Elite Amulet of Glory}} in their respective slots.

If you have {{ItemIcon|Fury of the Elemental Zodiacs|FEZ}} (3% DR) use it instead of the {{ItemIcon|Elite Amulet of Defence}} (2% DR). If you don't have any of them, use {{ItemIcon|Gold Sapphire Necklace}}, but you really want at least {{ItemIcon|Elite Amulet of Defence|Elite Defence}} to idle this dungeon.
Also worth noting that it is possible to manually clear the dungeon at lower {{Skill|Hitpoints|HP}} levels and equip the resulting {{ItemIcon|Aeris God Boots|Boots}} and {{ItemIcon|Aeris God Gloves|Gloves}} to begin idling a bit earlier.

The {{ItemIcon|Sandstorm Ring}} is very powerful and will certainly help clear speeds if you have no external buffs. However, be aware that with enough extra {{Icon|Melee|nolink=true}} levels, better equipment, or buffs from {{Skill|Agility}}, {{Skill|Astrology}}, {{Skill|Herblore}}, {{Skill|Summoning}}, or {{Skill|Prayer}}, the {{ItemIcon|Sandstorm Ring}} may actually become a detriment to how fast you clear the dungeon.

There are two alternative ring choices:
* {{ItemIcon|Aorpheat's Signet Ring}} or {{ItemIcon|Ring of Wealth}}:
** Increase the amount of {{ItemIcon|Scroll of Aeris|Scrolls}} and {{ItemIcon|Air Chest|Chests}} you receive upon dungeon completion
* {{ItemIcon|Ring of Blade Echoes}}:
** Massively increase weapon DPS at the cost of increased consumable usage

Why Clear Air God Dungeon?

According to the simulator (1) and simulator (2):

  • On average it will take 69 clears of the dungeon to get the full Aeris Armour set. (1)
  • If you want the full Armour set, then you need to clear the dungeon 91 times for 75% of that happening or 192 times for 95%. (2)
  • If you want the full set and Stormsnap, then it's 277 times for 75% and 576 times for 95%.

Gear to Idle

Due to the Combat Triangle, it's recommended to beat the Air God Dungeon with Melee because the enemies here are Ranged and Melee.

The following build can idle the dungeon with Hitpoints Level 90 (+30 HP from Dragonfire Shield for 930 HP total), and is suitable for Standard, Hardcore, and Adventure Game Modes. Check your own setup with the Combat Simulator or Can I Idle to be sure that you won't die.

With more HP, you can start trading DR for Chance to Double Items and plain DPS, for example, with the same build, at 1,090 HP, you could equip a Chapeau Noir and an Elite Amulet of Glory in their respective slots.

Also worth noting that it is possible to manually clear the dungeon at lower HP levels and equip the resulting Boots and Gloves to begin idling a bit earlier.

The Sandstorm Ring is very powerful and will certainly help clear speeds if you have no external buffs. However, be aware that with enough extra Melee levels, better equipment, or buffs from Agility, Astrology, Herblore, Summoning, or Prayer, the Sandstorm Ring may actually become a detriment to how fast you clear the dungeon.

There are two alternative ring choices:

Weapon Choice

The simulation was done with the given build. All combat levels are equal to 85 aside from Hitpoints. No prayers, no potions, no any other buffs.

The intermediate steps can be checked with this spreadsheet. (link)

Weapon Adjusted clears per hour Buff compared to previous
Dragon Sword 0.91 0%
Dragon Claw 0.99 8%
Sunset Rapier 1.1 9.5%
Ancient Claw 1.13 2.6%
Infernal Claw 1.19 5.1%

The usual food expenditure is 384 Whale (Perfect) per hour.

You want to get at least the Ancient Claw because it is a good time to farm it after unlocking Ancient Magicks.

Ideally, you want to get 10 Infernal Cores from the Infernal Stronghold and farm the Dragon Claw to make the Infernal Claw.
Check the Infernal Stronghold/Guide to farm it most efficiently. You should be able to idle everything aside from Malcs.

Maximized Farming

The rest of this guide is NOT for your first clear, your average clear, or even your first 100 clears. This is purely to maximize scrolls for any missing items. This will assume 99 in all skills, access to nearly all weapons and items in the game, and access to all DR and HP pets. This assumes you are (unless otherwise noted) using an optimal Agility setup, are using your best dps prayers, your best summoning synergy, and are using Diamond Luck Potions

Melee

This build is the simplest to accomplish, and what most players will lean towards.

This clocks in roughly 20-21 scrolls per hour, depending on if you have access to Shield of Melee Power, and depending on your Astrology bonuses

Tidal Edge, and/or FEZ paired with Fighter Amulet in passive slot, may be slightly faster depending, again, on your Astrology bonuses. This should be checked for yourself in Combat Sim

Magic

Standard Mode only, the Hardcore/Adventure combat triangle advantages make this build unusable.

This build uses Water Surge or Water Wave (reduced rune cost), Anguish III, and Fury II.

To use this method, you need to have 1090 HP and 48 DR. This is achieved by using Rocky Waters instead of Lake Swim. Any other method to get you to survive Aeris's stun is usable, but going to cost you more than 3% damage.

This clocks in around 26 scrolls per hour, depending slightly on your Astrology bonuses
